At The Bloom Method we use extremely innovative techniques to help train & prepare you for pregnancy, birth & motherhood. Our method’s are based on science and the deep desire to empower you throughout your pregnancy journney’s while provding you with movement & mindfulness techniques that will support you for life. The Bloom Method’s intrensic focus on correct core activation exercises, core breathing, functional movement & ground breaking techniques are helping redefine pregnancy exercise. We emphasize the importance of “prevention” instead of “repair” when it comes to common pregnancy related issues ie. low back pain, diastasis recti, pelvic floor incontinece & prolapse and believe strongly that these issues aren’t in fact common at all. Through our method you will be taught innovative techniques to help create re-patterning of the way your deep core activates in both exercise & daily movements while overall, teaching your body to return to it’s inate state of being when it comes to breath & movement. Re-patterning, correct breathing, smart exercise and a body more prepared for birth is what The Bloom Method strives to provide. Thus all of this making your journey into motherhood much easier and much, much more liberating. Our Methodology will support you for life, allowing any exercise method you choose to be more effective than ever.
The Bloom Method uses a challenging blend of specific strength training moves, pilates, Liit [low intensity iterval training], yoga and functional “mom” moves to help prepare you both mentally & physically for the birth experience. In our prenatal classes, you can expect to spend a lot of time working your slow twitch muscle fibers to exhaustion during each class. We use various weights (3lbs-15lbs) + resistance bands and long bouts of exercise ( 1-3 minutes each ) to help you begin recruiting strength from the depth of each muscle fiber instead of using momentum to help you. In other words, we love to move slow and use this slow, controlled, constant state of movement to safely push you to your edge and help you dig deeper, breath more mindfully, and soften into your edge while you strengthen your mind & body to train for the birth marathon. Our hope is to gently lead you to that amazing “yes I can” mental space to help you create the stamina to push through the movement regardless of muscle fatigue. We like to remind our clients that the exercise is like a contraction, what coping mechanisms can you tap into to allow you to keep moving and push through each exercise like you would during a contraction. Diaphragmatically breathe, distract the mind, stay in your body, find a happy place and be your own coach reminding yourself that “Yes. You. Can”.
ALL BloomFIT classes are geared towards our “moms to be” while our MamaFIT classes are for post baby mamas.
Each class at The Bloom Method is designed to challenge ALL expecting and post birth mamas. Our instructors provide modifications and ways to up level any exercise that may be in question to your specific need. While each class format is designed a little differently, they are all guaranteed to make you sweat while challenging you in a new way each time. Try them all out, we’d love to show you all the layers of TBM .
**Both our CoreFORM [prenatal] and CoreFIX [postnatal] are great classes to start with but starting here isn’t necessary. These classes can be done whether you’re new to Bloom or have taken tons of our classes.
While all of our classes are safe for expecting and post birth women, we strongly recommend that you wait to attend our MamaHiiT
Yes, ALL of our classes tend to be harder than people expect. While all of our classes are mindfully built with the pregnancy & postpartum body in mind, we know that some things need to shift in the way of exercise before & after baby. Our MamaFIT classes are a perfect way to take back control of your body after baby, learn supportive techniques that will help you feel stronger than ever and know how to use your body more effectively in all workouts. We offer both a regular MamaFIT class & a MamaHiiT class. Each class will challenge you in a new way while helping you love your post birth body a little more each time you sweat with us!
Right away! In a perfect world, women would start a regular exercise routine during the preconception period to physically prepare for pregnancy, implementing our core techniques to their pre-pregnancy regimens. Once pregnant, exercising during the first & second trimester is crucial as your placenta experiences the most growth during this time. The more you exercise & pump blood and oxygen to your placenta, the larger and healthier your placenta will become for the duration of your pregnancy. The healthier your placenta, the healthier your baby. During the first trimester, it’s common for you to feel naseaus, light headed, have a loss of appetite AND exercise is that last thing that shows up on your desire list. Even though it can be a challenge to exercise when feeling this way, studies have found that moderate exercise can actually increase the speed at which you move through this “feeling icky all the time” transition. It’s all about suppling more blood, at a faster speed to your now larger circulatory system. Even if you can’t make it to class, getting outside and enjoying a nice walk can do wonders for the way you’re feeling during this time.
We strongly advise not beginning an exercise practice during pregnancy if you weren’t previously active. Pregnancy is NOT the time to start being active.
Birth Prep is the act of “training” for labor. Did you know that during labor, you expel triple the amount of oxygen as a marathon runner during a marathon? Our belief is that women should be training for birth just like they would any other athletic event, we even like to refer to birth as The Birth Marathon! With our labor training techniques, we mimic contractions using safe yet challenging interval activity + rest periods to push you physically & mentally and help prepare you for your journey ahead. Through this practice, our clients learn an element of what they could expect during labor and how to best prepare physically & mentally. In training for birth, The Bloom Method’s average client pushes for less than 30 minutes and feels more confident heading into her labor process.
The physical exercises help you to sustain the height of a contraction and “push through the pain” and “softening into your edge” while the rest periods help you to use the “down time” or “low” of a contraction wisely by training your mind to go elsewhere and recharge, ready for the next round of contractions. This technique has been proven to help our clients tremendously during labor leaving them with a sense of control and overall empowerment.
This class is great for ALL trimesters! Afterall, we like to remind our clients that athletes train for months for athletic events, the sooner you begin to prep your body for birth the more you’ll slay your birth marathon.
Great! Childbirth classes are extremely educational especially for first-time moms & dads. Though we highly recommend these classes to new parents, they don’t teach you the same philosophy that The Bloom Method does. Our coaching and consulting can be a huge additive to any and all childbirth classes as our techniques will help you to stay connected to your changing body via exercise throughout your pregnancy and beyond. The Bloom Method is geared towards women even though our clients tend to share the wealth of my belly breathing techniques with their husbands and even children. Regardless of your class choice, The Bloom Method’s techniques complement all education surrounding pregnancy & childbirth while helping you to achieve a healthier pregnancy while becoming more prepared for your birth.
